RAK Customs inaugurates the new light and heavy vehicles scanner at Al Dara Customs in conjunction with the International Customs Day

On behalf of HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of RAK Customs Department, HE Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Mehrezi, Director General of RAK Customs Department opened, this Monday, the new light and heavy vehicle scanner at Al Dara Customs Centre, with a number of departmental managers and representatives from the Department's strategic partners and the manufacturer and supplier of the system in attendance.

HE Dr. Al Mehrezi toured the facility where he viewed the system in operation and the upgrades and developments introduced through the deployment of this latest and technically advanced inspection equipment to assist RAK Customs inspectors in their duties. HE Dr. Mohammed Al Mehrezi said that through the patronage and directives of HH Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council and rules of Ras Al Khaimah, and HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Saud Al Qasimi, RAK Crown Prince, and the follow-up of HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, RAK Chairman of RAK Customs Department, RAK Customs Department constantly continues to identify and update systems used in customs inspections and supplies its customs centres with these systems to ensure the safety and security of Ras Al Khaimah and the UAE.

“This type of systems is the first ever to be in use in the UAE. Upgrading to the latest technology at Al Dara Customs centre will enable our department to undertake inspections to a high level for the purposes of safety and border security of the country whilst importantly facilitating trade through the use of such non-intrusive methods of inspection to bring further happiness to the society and people from all walks of life in the UAE,” Al Mehrezi stated. Al Mehrezi commended the new scanning system, which is the new generation of technically advanced light and heavy vehicle inspection systems and which provides efficient screening methods and very high quality imaging. He added that the system is suitable for inspection of all vehicles such as containers, trucks, car, mini vans, buses and SUVs crossing the land borders.
