As part of the strategic directions of the Government of Ras Al Khaimah, and in line with the vision of the Emirate and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, to support economic growth and enhance the competitiveness of vital sectors, Ras Al Khaimah Customs signed a cooperation agreement with Ras Al Khaimah International Airport and Fly Vaayu LLC, a subsidiary of Ras Al Khaimah International Airport, with the aim of developing the air freight system and elevating the efficiency of logistics services in the Emirate.
The agreement aims to strengthen the strategic partnership and integration between Ras Al Khaimah Customs and air freight companies, supporting the Emirate’s competitiveness as a regional logistics hub, alongside attracting new investments in the aviation and logistics services sector and opening wider horizons for growth in this vital sector.
The agreement also seeks to develop air freight mechanisms locally and internationally, and to simplify customs procedures in a way that enhances the smooth flow of commercial movement at the airport and contributes to increasing the volume of air shipments, thereby strengthening the Emirate’s position on the regional and international trade map.
The areas of cooperation include developing international freight services and enhancing the services of companies operating in air freight and customs clearance within the Emirate, in order to provide an integrated package of logistics services — including aircraft repair and maintenance, loading and unloading of cargo containers, aircraft management and operation, transport of hazardous materials, air transport of passengers, coordination of aviation and air cargo services, air freight line agencies, commercial brokerage in the aviation sector, operating and managing cargo terminals at airports, and cargo packaging services — helping to stimulate the air freight sector and increase its competitiveness at the national and regional levels.
As part of strengthening national integration, the agreement stipulated studying the possibility of expanding cooperation by enhancing the connection between Fly Vaayu and the national logistics services network, as one of Ras Al Khaimah Customs’ partners, contributing to an integrated logistics system that links the Emirate with the rest of the country’s emirates and external markets, and opens new horizons for diversifying revenue sources and enhancing the Emirate’s contribution to the national trade of the United Arab Emirates.
This agreement comes as part of ongoing efforts to enhance Ras Al Khaimah’s position as an advanced economic and logistics hub, supporting the nation’s vision of building a diversified and sustainable economy based on innovation and integration across various sectors.
